Double Feature Interview!

Busy week to be a fan. First we had some of the DaMan magazine shots revealed. And now, we have 2 interviews! The first one by Patty Adams for gossip blog, Betty confidential. Where he goes from Vampires, to girls and his idea of a perfect date.
the second one a radio interview brought to us by our friends at The VRO

For the Betty confidential interview, keep reading!:

Take the small-town feel and clever dialogue of Dawson’s Creekmixed with the hot high school vampires of Twilight and the murder-mystery of Scream, and you have the CW’s The Vampire Diaries, which was recently picked up for a full 22 episodes. Zach Roerig, 24, plays football hero Matt Donovan, the hottest guy (without fangs) in Mystic Falls. Zach, whose character is still pining for his ex Elena (Nina Dobrev), knows all about dragged-out love stories from his years on As the World Turns and One Life to Live. But the Ohio native — who also lassoed girls’ hearts as rodeo star Cash on Friday Night Lights — is hoping Matt won’t be single for long. “There are a lot of very attractive girls on this show, so I certainly wouldn’t mind Matt getting into a relationship with one of them,” says Zach, coyly. “But his heart will always belong to Elena.”
People in Mystic Falls — including your character’s sister Vicki (Kayla Ewell) — are dying left and right. Does that scare you that you could be killed off at any time? Are you kidding? Any time I read a script that says, “Matt goes into a room followed by Damon [Ian Somerhalder],” I get worried. But on the very first table read for the show, our supervising producer said, “We love you all, but this is The Vampire Diaries — it’s notStefan’s Diaries or Elena’s Diaries or anyone else’s diaries, so everyone stay on your toes.” We all knew then and there that we could go at any time. I mean, come on, anything’s possible when you have vampires around!

When Matt finds out Vicki’s dead, is he going to go after Damon and Stefan [Paul Wesley]?Matt’s definitely going to seek redemption. I’m not sure he’s going to know what direction to go in, but he won’t stop till he figures it out. It may not mean staking a vampire in the heart, but he’ll do something. I’m just waiting to see what’s in store for the rest of the series. It started out focusing on Elena, Damon and Stefan, but Bonnie [Katerina Graham] and her witchy ways are going to become a bigger part of the show; the town’s people who are trying to secretly hunt for vampires will be out in force; there are new characters popping up, so there’s a lot more to come. I’m just as excited as the viewers to see it unfold.
Elena has moved on with Stefan. And now Matt seems to have formed an unlikely bond with Caroline [Candice Accola]. Will we see Matt get with another girl soon?Matt will always be there for Elena and she’ll probably always be the number one girl for him. But at the same time, he’s 17 years old and in high school, so the truth of the matter is that he’ll probably go for another girl. But we’ll have to see how the writers feel about that.
As a viewer, do you think Matt and Elena should be together?I think it would be a nice little twist — eventually. Would I want them to stay together? Probably not, because I think it’s always more exciting when you don’t have a happy couple. The struggle is the fun part to play and watch.
I know you were on the football team like Matt in high school. What other similarities are there between you and your character? I’ve always been a bit overprotective of my younger sister and my girl cousins, like Matt is with Vicki and Elena.
What’s your favorite part of playing Matt? Most of the characters I’ve played in the past started out as nice guys, but it turned out that was only an act and they became nasty guys. I thought for once I’d like to play a genuinely nice guy, which Matt is.
If you were turned into a vampire, do you think you’d be more like badass Damon or tortured-romantic Stefan? I’d much rather be like Damon, who doesn’t play by anyone’s rules. It would be much more fun. I actually read for [the part of] Damon. From the beginning, I knew Damon was going to be a monumental part of the series.  If you ask me, Ian has the best role on the show.
Which vampire story are you most into: TwilightTrue Blood or Anne Rice’s Interview With a Vampire?I’d have to say True Blood. It’s interesting, because there’s a lot going on in that town. I wasn’t really into Twilight, but my younger cousins really liked it. And I haven’t read the Anne Rice novels.
After playing the cowboy on Friday Night Lights, you’re now into rodeos. What do you think you’ll take with you from this role? The cast has really come together and we have each other’s backs. There are no big egos. So I’d be walking away with that camaraderie. This is an experience none of us will ever forget.
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself? I can either sound like a nice guy or a pompous ass. Jeez Louise, I think I’m going to have to plead the fifth on this one.

What’s your life motto? One I’d like to start using more is, “Do it now, not later.” That way I wouldn’t be late all the time — like for this interview!

What’s the one dish you can cook the best?Fall-off-the-bone barbecue pork ribs. I made them for the whole cast this summer. I also do dry-aged rib eye and filet mignon pretty well, too.

Which celeb would you like to watch the Super Bowl with?Jack Nicholson. I don’t know if he likes football, but I’ve seen him on the sidelines at Lakers’ games and he really gets into it.

If you were going to appear on a reality TV show, which would it be?My career would obviously be over! I’d say either Survivor, that would be intense, or it would be cool to be Bear Grylls’ sidekick onSurvivorman. Can you tell I like the outdoors?
What’s the biggest turn-on when it comes to women? I’m looking for a down-to-earth girl, who can appreciate a good pair of boots.

What’s your idea of the perfect date?It would start with apple picking in Upstate New York in the fall. Then we’d go down to Lake George, row across the lake and stop on a little island and have a picnic lunch. I’ve actually done that before, and it was pretty near perfect.
